Summer Volleyball Week 6

Wahoos 21 18 19
Cavs 15 21 21

It was a really great match, definitely one of the most evenly challenging I think either team has had this season. Wahoos won the first game 21-15, then the Cavs took the last two, 21-18 and 21-19. All three games kind of blend into a blur of trash talking, great serving (I think between the two teams, we maybe only had 6-7 faults for the whole match), solid digs and impressive setting/spiking.

Highlights/observations:
- Fabulous job by our subs, Nathan and Jay
- Both Julie and Jay had some pretty long runs serving with some aces interspersed throughout, though at moments Jay demonstrated a knack for making near perfect serves had they not landed precisely 3 inches out of bounds each time
- Lots of great digs by Jay, Nathan and GJ (though GJ's might have been more amusing than the others')
- Nadine was picking up everything off the back line per usual
- KQ doing well up front and by far the loudest communicator
- Kevin with some nice hits and a great block, and even resisted the urge to play tricky, never pulling out some of his signature moves (ie: pass it deep corner right away, etc.)
- Melissa utilizing some strategically "missed" serves to incite Kevin follow up with misses of his own
- Julie breaking out a grunting layer to her blocking technique, creating subconscious distraction enough to cause several hits to land in the net
- The plethora of open-handed dinks over the net. ;)
- Nate and Nadine taking MVP honors, Nate for some serious ups (one might have thought he hide a little trampoline in the sand) and Nadine for some amazing passing and a well-time string of 6 or 7 serves in a row in the 3rd game to help open a much needed lead (ultimately erased when the Wahoos came back for an 18-18 tie, but a key moment nonetheless).

Overall, it was a super fun match and hopefully we'll get to replicate it during the playoffs :).
